General Information

Power transmission, bridging of large centre distances and alteration of transmission ratios.

Not stainless chains for general use in machinery and plant engineering, as well as in model making.

Stainless chains especially for food processing companies and outdoor applications.

Special chains with one-piece inner links and stainless steel outer links, if low weight and/or particularly high degree of cleanliness is required.

Chains DIN ISO 606 / DIN 8187 - not stainless – can be chosen using the performance diagram. The stainless chains are to be selected considering the breaking load or working load. The application should use no more than one sixth of the stated breaking load, to avoid an early elongation. The working load is to be calculated with an operating factor for the shock load (operating factors and notes regarding the design on the internet).

The often used chain sizes 06 B-1 and 08 B-1 should be preferred wherever possible also for low-stressed drives as smaller chains are more expensive.

The small sizes 081 and 083 are less commonly used. For this purpose only plastic chain wheels are available ex stock.

Chain wheels must be aligned (precisely positioned).

Chain tension has to be adjusted (the slack span should amount to approx. 2 % of the center distance with common applications).

Roller chains require lubrication (permanent or at intervals).

An even number of links (incl. connecting link) is to be preferred. An uneven number of links can only be realized by using a cranked link that reduces the load bearing capacity of the chain by 20%.
