General Information

Use for plant construction, engineering, food industry and laboratory technology.

Conversion of a rotary movement into a linear one (e.g. lifting system). In rare cases also vice versa for conversion of a linear movement into a rotary one.

Spindles with trapezoidal thread, single-thread right or left hand, or double-thread right hand (double feed), sizes from Tr. 10x3 to Tr. 24x5 (diameter x pitch).

Nuts are available as round nuts, flange nuts and hex nuts.

Dimensioning and selection of materials:

Sizing with aid of calculation and tables considering the safety against buckling (lateral buckling of the spindle under pressure load).

Steel spindles for standard applications. Stainless steel spindles if corrosion resistance is required.

Red brass nuts with excellent dry-running properties for often used drives.

Cast iron nuts for lower speeds or less frequent use.

Plastic nuts with excellent dry-running properties for low loads.

Steel nuts and stainless steel nuts only as fastening threads or for manual operation. These materials tend to seizing (galling).

Notes regarding self-locking:

In theory the listed single-thread spindles in combination with metal nuts are static self-locking. Vibrations can, however, reduce or override the self-locking capacity. Drives with plastic nuts and all double-threaded spindles are not self-locking.
