Precision Hollow Worm
Technical specification
Material: hollow worm, made of steel 16MnPb30, case hardened and ground, inspected for fissures
Bore tolerance: H6
Centre distance tolerance: +0.05 mm
General Information
Use for high loads in continuous operation, precision engineering and gear manufacturing.
For right angled power transmission with simultaneous vertical offset (= centre distance dimension), even at high speeds.
Precision worms and worm gears for shaft angle 90º
Centre distance (vertical offset) optionally 17; 22.62; 25 and 31 mm
Several transmissions are available per centre distance
The worms and gears only run as a pair at the stated ratio and at the same module
Worm and worm gear have to be ordered separately
Ready-to-mount (with custom bore, need only to be pinned)
High mechanical strength properties
Very quiet running
Good temperature resistance
Right hand
Notes regarding efficiency and self-locking:
Low transmissions (e.g. 5:1) have a high efficiency and a minimum self-locking. High transmissions (with low lead angle) have a low efficiency and a high self-locking. A static self-locking capacity is provided with a lead angle less than ca. 4.5° (lead angle see table).
