Respiratory Hoses for Children and Adults
As a specialist in professional medical and hose technology, Reichelt Chemietechnik offers a wide range of medical hoses, including silicone hoses and TYGON® hoses.
RCT also provides respiratory and inhalation hoses for both adults and children, differing in inner diameter: 19 mm for adults and 9 mm for children. Inhalation tubes are available with or without adapters, also referred to as cuffs. Applications for respiratory and inhalation hoses include not only medical technology but also laboratory, analytical, and process engineering.
Requirements for Modern Inhalation Hoses
As medical hoses products in healthcare and hospital environments, respiratory and inhalation hoses must meet a variety of regulations, standards, and requirements. The primary focus is the safety of the user or patient, requiring hoses to be physiologically safe.
- Respiratory hoses contain no extractable components.
- They are completely odorless and tasteless, physiologically inert, and fully biocompatible.
- Made from high-quality silicone rubber, extruded and vulcanized to be soft, flexible, and smooth.
- Compliant with FDA §177.2600, BfR XV, DAB 9, and USP XXI standards.
- Sterilization: Suitable for sterilization with hot air (+250°C), steam (+136°C at 2.2 bar), gas (ethylene oxide), and gamma radiation.
Additionally, the interior surface of inhalation tubes must be completely smooth to prevent the accumulation of dirt particles, bacteria, spores, and other microorganisms. Resistance to organic solvents and cleaning agents is also highly recommended.
Silicone Respiratory Hoses
THOMASIL respiratory tubes made from silicone meet all the above requirements without exception. They are also resistant to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, hot water, steam, and various acids and alkalis. Their resistance to alcohols and ketones is limited.
Inhalation hoses are extruded and vulcanized from premium silicone elastomer. The vulcanized material contains no extractable components. The material complies with FDA and BfR standards and meets the requirements of DAB 9 and USP XXI. RCT respiratory hoses conform to the European Pharmacopoeia.
The temperature range is -55°C to +200°C, with short-term use possible up to +250°C. Hot air sterilization is feasible at +250°C, and steam sterilization is possible at +136°C and 2.2 bar. Gas sterilization with ethylene oxide and gamma radiation sterilization are also suitable methods.
